The second week of the ASL Season 21 Round of 24 is set to take place from Monday to Wednesday following last week’s opening.
Terran players dominated the ASL Season 21 qualifiers, with only three Protoss players making it through compared to 14 Terrans. Despite this, Week 1 saw some unexpected outcomes, notably the elimination of the renowned Zerg player Kim “Soulkey” Min Chul.
In Group A, Kim “Soulkey” Min Chul was defeated by Choi “sSak” Ho Seon and Kim “Ample” Tae Yong, causing his exit from the Round of 24. Group B saw Jung “Rain” Yoon Jong and Jo “Sharp” Ki Seok advancing to the Round of 16, while Yoon Soo Chul and Jo “herO” Il Jang moved on from Group C. Yoon Soo Chul’s impressive Zerg gameplay was particularly noteworthy.
Groups D, E, and F will now compete over the next three days.
Group D features Lee “Light” Jae Ho, Kim “Calm” Yoon Hwan, Kim “RoyaL” Ji Sung, and Park “Mind” Sung Gyun, with a focus on Kim “Calm” Yoon Hwan’s performance in a challenging group. Group E includes the return of Lee “Flash” Young Ho, while Group F is considered the toughest with strong players across different races.
The Round of 24 will soon conclude, leading to the inclusion of last season’s seeded players in the Round of 16, with the group selection ceremony scheduled for April 6th.
