Historically, the success of esports tournaments has been measured by absolute viewership, but this metric doesn’t paint the full commercial picture. An audience of the same size can hold varying value for advertisers based on regional ad budgets, purchasing power, and competition in local media markets. This discrepancy often leads to rankings based on raw viewership not aligning with rankings based on sponsor appeal.

Our metric combines audience scale with broadcast monetization potential to evaluate the return on ad integrations. This article unveils the top 10 most commercially attractive tournaments of Q1 2026, showcasing events that provided significant media value for brands in the past three months.

Esports Charts’ Media Value serves as an estimated sponsorship benchmark, translating viewership and broadcast exposure into the hypothetical cost of a 1% on-screen banner. It considers audience size, duration, and regional ad rates for comparison purposes, not as a literal revenue figure. For a detailed explanation, refer to our guide on calculating Media Value.

The Q1 2026 ranking reveals a notable trend. The majority of the top 10 positions belong to Counter-Strike tournaments, highlighting the discipline’s strong appeal to advertisers. Surprisingly, the top spot was claimed by a League of Legends event, a regional competition that outperformed major international tournaments in sponsor value.

Top 10 Esports Events by Media Value - Q1 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, nine esports tournaments generated an estimated Media Value exceeding $10 million, with one event surpassing the $20 million mark. Leading the pack was the LCK Cup 2026. This League of Legends competition, known for its longevity and high viewership, secured the top position in media value due to its large and valuable audience concentrated in regions with strong purchasing power, notably South Korea, North America, and Western Europe.

Securing the second spot was Intel Extreme Masters Kraków 2026, a successful Counter-Strike event following the replacement of the renowned IEM Katowice. Despite the venue change to a different Polish city, ESL managed to retain its loyal viewership base and core sponsorship value. Counter-Strike dominated the top ten with four events, showcasing rapid audience growth and heightened commercial demand.

League of Legends made its mark with three entries in the ranking. Alongside the LCK Cup, both the European LEC and the global First Stand tournament earned spots. Interestingly, the regional LEC outperformed the international First Stand in estimated Media Value due to the latter’s shorter format, limiting overall brand exposure compared to the more extended LEC season.

Valorant contributed two events to the ranking. The major international tournament, Masters Santiago, performed well, as expected from a competition featuring top-tier teams. Among regional circuits, VCT Pacific was the sole league to break into the top ten, showcasing stronger viewership figures in the Pacific region, which translated to higher sponsor appeal and overall media value.

The M7 World Championship for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang claimed the ninth spot, positioning itself as the only mobile esports event in the top ten. Despite recording the highest raw viewership among all tournaments in the quarter, its media value reflects the audience composition, primarily concentrated in emerging markets, resulting in lower estimated advertising value compared to more established and higher-cost media regions.
