The inaugural group of the ‘Nexon MapleStory Worlds Academy,’ a joint effort between the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA) and Nexon Korea, held its opening ceremony on the 13th and officially commenced its curriculum. This hands-on program is tailored to train content creators utilizing the ‘MapleStory Worlds’ platform. The chosen students, through a rigorous selection process, will engage in six weeks of practical projects covering planning, development, and operations.
The educational plan seeks to nurture the next generation of UGC (User-Generated Content) creators with practical expertise in content planning, development, and operation using ‘MapleStory Worlds.’ The academic journey commenced with an opening ceremony at the RAPA Seocho office in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
The application process attracted a total of 755 candidates, resulting in a competitive ratio of 25.2 to 1. The 30 selected students will partake in the six-week program, running until July 18. Their responsibilities include crafting and executing content based on ‘MapleStory Worlds’ and collaborating on team projects.
The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 40 individuals, including Shin Min-seok, Director at Nexon Korea, other ‘MapleStory Worlds’ representatives, RAPA officials, Diarium educational agency representatives, and the students.
During the event, Nexon Korea introduced the ‘MapleStory Worlds’ platform and its UGC ecosystem, while the program coordinators detailed the curriculum and project management strategies. Students received insights into upcoming project phases and creator development programs, followed by a networking session.
The program focuses on projects, allowing students to conceptualize, create, launch, and manage content as if it were a live service. It aims to equip them not only with creative skills but also with experience in teamwork, problem-solving, and service delivery.
Throughout the program, students have access to individual laptops equipped with GPUs. Additional perks include utilizing generative AI tools, receiving completion certificates, potential collaboration projects with Nexon for outstanding performers, and exposure opportunities on the ‘MapleStory Worlds’ platform.
RAPA emphasized that the UGC ecosystem, where users collaborate on content creation, is emerging as a new competitive advantage in the industry. The organization aims to nurture creators and developers who will shape the future content landscape through the ‘Nexon MapleStory Worlds Academy.’
Nexon Korea described ‘MapleStory Worlds’ as a UGC platform enabling individuals to easily develop and manage their content, expressing optimism that this academy will empower new creators to actualize diverse ideas and expand the ecosystem.
The ‘Nexon MapleStory Worlds Academy’ is a game-based UGC creator training program run in collaboration between RAPA and Nexon Korea. It assists students in honing creative skills and gaining practical experience by engaging in projects linked to the platform ecosystem.
