Aberrant Labs and Slug Disco have announced the official release of the microscopic roguelike shooter ‘Pathogenic’ on the PC game platform Steam.
In ‘Pathogenic’, players assume the role of a disease fighting against the human body’s immune system. There are seven types of pathogens available, each inspired by real-world biology.
The game allows players to collect and combine over 120 unique organelles and mutations to evolve their pathogen. It utilizes a soft-body physics simulation for realistic movement of cells and projectiles.
With six procedurally generated levels, players will navigate through internal environments such as the intestines and heart, evading attacks from macrophages and T-cells.
Players will also encounter rival pathogens like helminths and lung parasites. Upon defeating the final boss, they can unlock secret levels by meeting specific conditions or engage in 15 challenge modes to test their skills. Completion of challenges and collection of plasmid fragments grants access to new pathogens, organelles, and upgrades.
‘Pathogenic’ supports 11 languages, including Korean, English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. The base price is ₩10,500, with a 20% launch discount reducing it to ₩8400. A bundle featuring the original soundtrack and concept art book is priced at ₩8,200, with a 40% launch discount available.
