Nintendo hikes Switch 2 prices, revises console costs in Japan, US, Canada, and Europe

Nintendo has recently revealed that they will be increasing the prices of both the Switch and Switch 2 consoles in Japan. However, only the Switch 2 will be affected in the US, Canada, and Europe.

This decision, which was disclosed alongside Nintendo’s latest financial results, was made after considering changes in market conditions and the global outlook.

Nintendo expressed their sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by these price adjustments and expressed gratitude for the understanding of their customers and stakeholders.

The price revisions for both the Switch 2 and Switch consoles will also be implemented in other regions, with further details to be provided by Nintendo’s overseas subsidiaries.

The new prices for the Switch 2 and Switch consoles in Japan will come into effect on May 25, 2026:

Nintendo has also disclosed price adjustments for its Nintendo Switch Online subscription service in Japan, set to take effect on July 1, 2026:

Planned price revisions for South Korea will be announced at a later date.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa had previously mentioned that the company is considering future price adjustments due to the ongoing shortage of memory components.

“Any decision regarding price changes will be made after a comprehensive evaluation, taking into account factors such as profitability, the platform’s user base, sales trends, and the market environment,” he explained.

“If the increase in memory prices persists longer than anticipated, it could impact hardware profitability. In such a scenario, we will carefully assess various factors to determine the appropriate course of action.”
