Star Stable Entertainment, a Swedish developer known for its multiplayer role-playing horse adventure game Star Stable Online, has recently implemented a restructuring program that led to a 20% reduction in its workforce.
Interim CEO James Watkins, in a statement on LinkedIn, emphasized the necessity of this step to ensure the long-term sustainability of Star Stable. He acknowledged the difficulty of the decision and praised the affected team members for their valuable contributions.
Watkins highlighted the strategic importance of reducing operating costs and reallocating resources to position Star Stable for future growth and continued player engagement.
Expressing gratitude for the departing employees, Watkins reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting them through the transition with care and respect.
In 2021, Nordisk Games solidified its majority shareholder status in Star Stable Entertainment by acquiring a 57% ownership stake. This followed previous investments in the company, including a substantial minority share in May 2018 and a subsequent increase to a 40% stake later that year.
