Minecraft is making significant changes to its system requirements after 17 years.
On the 28th, Microsoft revealed in its official blog that it will be increasing the PC system requirements for Minecraft. This decision aims to ensure a smoother gaming experience for users in upcoming updates.
Key changes include the need for modern CPUs and GPUs that support the ‘Vulkan 1.3’ graphics API, as well as a substantial rise in RAM requirements.
Notably, the recommended RAM capacity has been boosted from 4GB to 16GB, aligning with the average RAM needs of current PC games. The new specs call for 16GB of RAM and 6GB of VRAM for recommended settings, while minimum requirements include 8GB of RAM (12GB for integrated graphics) and 2GB of VRAM.
Mojang Studios, the developer behind Minecraft, clarified, “These adjustments aim to offer clearer guidelines for users seeking stable gameplay at high settings in FHD resolution.” They reassured existing users that the game’s performance demands will not drastically increase overnight.
