Hosting local League of Legends tournaments has become a whole new ball game with Riot Games’ latest move. The company has completely revamped its global Community Competition Guidelines, simplifying the process for organizers and players alike.
One of the major changes is the removal of financial restrictions for independent event organizers. Previously, there were strict limits on entry fees, prize pools, and sponsorships, making it difficult for tournaments to flourish without Riot’s approval. Now, organizers have the freedom to set their own prize pools, charge entry fees, and secure local sponsors without bureaucratic hurdles.
Instead of waiting for official authorization, organizers can now fill out a simple online form detailing their event and prize pool, allowing them to focus on running successful tournaments without unnecessary delays.
Money Caps Are Gone and Approval Is Optional
The most significant change in the updated guidelines is the elimination of financial constraints. With the previous rules, organizers had to navigate through a maze of restrictions regarding prize money, sponsorship deals, and more. Now, organizers have the freedom to grow their events without worrying about hitting financial ceilings.
The new guidelines also cover various game modes, including Summoner’s Rift, ARAM, Arena, and the recently introduced League of Legends Classic mode. This inclusivity ensures that all types of players can participate and enjoy the tournament experience.
Additionally, Riot has reintroduced the coveted Triumphant Ryze skin as an incentive for competitive players. By allowing qualifying community brackets with a minimum of 80 players to compete for this rare skin, Riot is adding an extra layer of excitement to grassroots tournaments.
