FURIA emerged victorious over BetBoom Team with a score of 3-2 on Sunday, 18 October, securing the title of Thunderpick World Championship 2026. They clinched the best-of-five grand final by claiming victory in maps four and five after BetBoom had initially taken a 2-1 lead.
This match marked the fourth encounter between the two teams since June, with BetBoom finally managing to secure a map win. FURIA had previously dominated all three meetings, winning 2-0 each time: first at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 on 13 June, then in ESL Pro League Season 24 on 3 October, and once again at this event on 14 October.
BetBoom stages a comeback with a 70-minute second map
The competition kicked off with FURIA seizing a 51-minute victory in the first map, in line with their previous matchups. However, BetBoom bounced back strongly. The second map extended to 70 minutes, the longest in the series, resulting in BetBoom claiming victory and leveling the score at 1-1.
Building on their momentum, BetBoom swiftly secured a win in the third map in just 42 minutes, putting them one map away from the championship title. But FURIA showed resilience, leveling the series with a 56-minute triumph in the fourth map before decisively winning the final map in just 40 minutes, the shortest of the final.
FURIA remains undefeated in all four matches of the event
FURIA’s triumph in the competition signifies a flawless performance throughout. After defeating BetBoom 2-0 in their initial encounter, they went on to edge out Legacy 2-1 in the Winners’ Match and sweep Aurora Gaming 2-0 in the first semi-final.
This victory marks their fourth consecutive series win, following a previous 0-2 loss to MOUZ in ESL Pro League Season 24. With FURIA entering as the higher-ranked team, holding the 11th position in the Elo power rankings with a rating of 1833 compared to BetBoom’s 32nd position and 1745 rating, the outcome aligns with expectations despite the challenging scoreline.
Notably, BetBoom faced a tougher path to the final. After their initial defeat to FURIA, they battled through three consecutive series, winning each 2-1 against PARIVISION in the Elimination Match, Legacy in the Decider Match, and Team Falcons in the second semi-final. Their ability to push FURIA to a fifth map only adds to their impressive record of 61 wins and 30 losses across 91 rated matches.

Aurora Gaming secures third place by defeating Team Falcons
In the battle for third place, Aurora Gaming emerged victorious over Team Falcons with a score of 2-1. Aurora had advanced to the semi-finals by sweeping 9z 2-0 in the Decider Match before facing FURIA, while Falcons had previously fallen to BetBoom in the other semi-final.
For FURIA, this victory also solidifies their dominance in head-to-head matchups. They have now won all four documented encounters with BetBoom, dropping only two maps in the process, both of which were lost on Sunday.
