This year, Gamescom 2026’s exhibition area has reached a major milestone by being completely booked for the first time ever.

Due to the overwhelming demand from exhibitors, the event organizers are already planning to expand next year’s offerings to accommodate the increasing interest and enhance the overall visitor experience.

Felix Falk, the managing director of game – The German Games Industry Association and co-organizer of gamescom, expressed excitement about the upcoming event, stating, “It is already clear now that gamescom 2026 will be bigger than ever. Exhibitor demand is higher than it has ever been. Fans can look forward to a full program – on location in Cologne and in livestream everywhere in the world.”

Various highlights such as Gamescom Opening Night Live, the expanded gamescom awesome indies show, and gamescom GDQ, are generating anticipation for the world’s largest games event well before its start.

Recently, a new partnership has been established between the organizers of Gamescom, Koelnmesse, Game – The German Games Industry Association, and IGN for the “gamescom awesome indies show.” IGN has been a long-standing production partner for the official Gamescom consumer broadcast.

This year’s Gamescom Congress will focus on ‘Playing Field Democracy’ and ‘The Games Effect,’ highlighting the positive impact of video games on democratic education and their role as a source of innovation across various industries.

The event will take place from August 26-30, with the Gamescom Congress scheduled for August 27 and the developer-focused Gamescom Dev running from August 23-25.
