Gen.G Esports’ ‘Ruler’ Jae-hyuk Park, who defeated LCS Lock/In champion team Lion to advance to the semifinals of First Stand, praised the play of ‘Canyon’ Kim Geon-bu and ‘Chovy’ Jeong Ji-hoon.
Gen.G won a complete 3-0 victory over Lion in the Group B winner’s match of the First Stand Group Stage held at ‘Riot Games Sao Paulo’ in Sao Paulo, Brazil on the 19th (Korean time). Gen.G, who advanced to the semifinals, will face the winner of the final match between Group A’s G2 Esports and BNK PeerX for a spot in the finals.
In a post-game broadcast interview, Park Jae-hyuk analyzed the Lion game, saying, “There are some disappointing aspects of today’s game, but I am happy that we won cleanly 3-0. However, there were parts where the call was not correct, which unfortunately resulted in a death. There were parts where we missed the opponent’s tempo.”
He added, “It was annoying that Ryan kept trying to open an advantageous fighting angle,” and “(As for ending the game quickly), thanks to the good work of my teammates, I was able to end the game quickly.”
When asked who the POM in his heart is, Jae-hyuk Park said, “I think it’s either ‘Canyon’ Kim Geon-bu or ‘Chovy’ Jeong Ji-hoon. I’ll choose both. I think I’ve adapted well to Brazil, but I wake up once in the morning. That part is difficult, but everything else is no problem.”
When asked about many teams choosing Gen.G as a strong contender for the championship, he said, “It feels good to be chosen as a contender for the championship. I will do my best to help them win the championship rather than being a contender for the championship. I think it would be a shame if there is a battle with BNK in the semifinals. Still, I think we can win if we prepare well. We will do our best.”
