In Group F, where all three races gathered, ‘JD’ Jaedong showed an edge in troop management and passed the dual tournament in first place in the group.
On the evening of the 1st, the Group F match of the 6th day of the Google Play ASL Season 21 (hereinafter referred to as ASL Season 21) Round of 24 Dual Tournament was held at Freak Up Studio in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Terran’s Shin ‘Leta’ Sang-moon, Protoss’ ‘Best’ Jae-wook Do, Zerg’s ‘Queen’ Kim Myeong-un and ‘JD’ Jae-dong participated, and with three games played, ‘JD’ Jae-dong was the first to secure a ticket to the round of 16.
The one-game match between ‘Best’ Do Jae-wook (P) and ‘Retta’ Shin Sang-moon (T) ended in a victory for Shin Sang-moon, who sent Vulture to the right place at the right time and took the lead after a long match lasting 27 minutes.
In the match between the two players held on the Octagon map, Do Jae-wook took his place at 1:00 and Shin Sang-moon took his place at 7:00, and Shin Sang-moon quickly confirmed the timing of his opponent’s second Nexus installation with a diagonal reconnaissance. Shin Sang-moon then sent 4 Vultures to the base using a dropship to target the opponent’s blind spot, and while catching the probe, he inflicted damage. When the dragoons came in to block it, he escaped pursuit with the dropship again. He also attempted to attack once again, but Do Jae-wook also divided the dragoons into two and destroyed the dropship while waiting.
As Do Jae-wook continued to expand, he sent down two shuttles, but Shin Sang-moon’s Wraith blocked them and destroyed one. Instead of fighting further, Do Jae-wook attempted to expand his troops by installing multiple gateways. After the ground forces had accumulated to a certain extent, both players looked for opportunities by inflicting damage to the opponent’s units. While Shin Sang-Moon’s side gradually inflicted greater damage with vultures, Do Jae-wook aimed to inflict large-scale damage by hitting Shin Sang-Moon’s multi in the 9 o’clock area, but due to a slight lack of power, Shin Sang-Moon’s tanks overcame the crisis.
Shin Sang-moon, who was wasting time by continuously harassing Do Jae-wook’s multi with vultures, blocked the entrance to the hill at 11 o’clock to block Do Jae-wook’s troop movement and attacked the 11 o’clock and 12 o’clock areas. Do Jae-wook was unable to properly stop this and lost time. Shin Sang-moon, who started advancing to the center of the hill with multiple tanks, turned his Vulture to inflict damage, but Do Jae-wook did not miss the fact that the opponent’s gaze was in the other direction and struck the center tank, destroying half of it.
However, Shin Sang-moon, who did not lose control of the central hill with more tanks, blocked the entrance to the 5 o’clock area with tanks and pounded Do Jae-wook’s main unit, increasing the damage and eventually forcing the surrender in 27 minutes and 22 seconds.
In the two-game match between ‘Queen’ Kim Myeong-woon (Z) and ‘JD’ Jaedong (Z), Jaedong, who took the air in an unfavorable situation in the early stages, won in about 10 minutes.
Kim Myeong-woon started the game at 1 o’clock and Jaedong at 7 o’clock. Jaedong quickly sent his juggling unit toward Kim Myeong-un’s front yard and attempted a preemptive attack, but Kim Myeong-woon also blocked it with his juggling. Jaedong tried to cause damage to the front yard by repeatedly sending out juggles, but Myungwoon Kim strengthened his defense by even making sunkens.
After both players took out Mutalisk and Scourge, Jaedong launched an aerial attack toward Kim Myeong-woon, but this time, Kim Myeong-woon had the upper hand in the front yard. However, Jaedong successfully counterattacked with more precise control by pulling the opponent’s air force towards the hill, and entered Kim Myeong-woon’s front yard, causing great damage.
Kim Myeong-woon tried to overcome the crisis by continuously recruiting troops, but Jaedong’s forces had already taken air superiority, and in the end, Jaedong won a comeback victory in 10 minutes and 25 seconds, heading to the winner’s match.
In the winner’s match between ‘Leta’ Shin Sang-moon (T) and ‘JD’ Jae-dong (Z), Jaedong, who led the match by destroying all of Shin Sang-moon’s attempts and drying up his resources, enjoyed the joy of victory.
In the winner’s battle held on the Jane Doe map, Shin Sang-Moon’s main camp was captured at 8 o’clock and Jaedong’s main camp was captured at 2 o’clock. Shin Sang-Moon quickly sent Marine to try to block the construction of the sunken, but Jaedong, who blocked this and completed the construction of the sunken, overpowered the Marine and even destroyed the Vulture that came in late. Then, Shin Sang-moon turned the race and eliminated many of the Overlords, then inflicted damage on the Zerg’s air force that came to stop them.
Shin Sang-moon chose the bionic route by building multiple Barracks, while Jaedong selected Mutalisks to continue multi-area defense and even produced lurkers. While Shin Sang-moon, who eliminated two lurkers in the central area with Science Vessel and Marine, was demonstrating at the entrance to the opponent’s front yard, Wraith continued to inflict damage. Meanwhile, Jaedong, who formed a force of Mutalisks and Defilers, drove out the opponent and went in pursuit, occupying the central area, suppressing the opponent Marine and destroying one Science Vessel.
Shin Sang-moon, who resisted Jaedong’s entry and secretly played multiplayer at 11 o’clock, moved his troops toward 6 o’clock and hit Jaedong’s multiplayer at 5 o’clock. Jaedong, who noticed the multiplayer at 11 o’clock, suppressed the area and organized the bionic troops, making 2/3 of the map his area. Jaedong, who continued to create advantageous situations in the battle and dried up the opponent’s resources, blocked the opponent’s troops at 12 o’clock, and when Shin Sang-moon sent out his main troops, he suppressed them with a hydralisk and hit the multi at 9 o’clock.
Jaedong, who even destroyed a tank and crossed the defense line in a melee situation, finished the game with 11 seconds left in the 25th minute, finishing first in Group F and confirming his advancement to the round of 16.
