Paramount Pictures is currently working on a live-action adaptation set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.

As reported by Deadline, CD Projekt Red will collaborate with Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura on this project.

CDPR’s co-CEO Michał Nowakowski expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Paramount, stating, “We’re thrilled to have Paramount on board as a partner who shares our vision for the Cyberpunk franchise. Stay tuned for more updates in the future.”

In addition to this film, CDPR has been actively involved in creating the Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in collaboration with animation studio Trigger. The eagerly awaited second season is set to debut later this month.

While focusing on the development of The Witcher 4, CDPR has expanded its development team to 513 members. Simultaneously, their Boston studio has commenced work on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

The positive impact of video game adaptations on franchises has been evident. For instance, the Resident Evil movie directed by Zach Cregger led to a 50% increase in player engagement for Capcom’s Resident Evil games.

Amazon’s Fallout adaptation’s second season quickly became one of the most-watched series to date, resulting in a significant surge in concurrent Fallout players on Steam.

Paramount is actively working on other video game adaptations, including the highly anticipated Street Fighter film in collaboration with Legendary, and a Call of Duty movie directed by Peter Berg.

In recent news, Paramount successfully completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, leading to the formation of Skydance as the parent company for both entities.

As part of this acquisition, Paramount Games Studio and WB Games have merged under Skydance, aligning with Skydance president Andy Gordon’s vision for transmedia storytelling and fan engagement across various platforms.

Gordon emphasized the importance of reaching fans through different mediums, enhancing DC Comics’ narratives, and expanding e-commerce offerings to connect fans with their favorite brands.
