Fireshine Games acquires Necesse dev Fair Games, described as a “defining moment” for Danish indie studio

Fireshine Games has completed the acquisition of Danish indie studio Fair Games along with their popular open-world sandbox game Necesse.

Mads Skovgaard, the founder and CEO of Fair Games, will continue to lead the studio as managing director, maintaining the current development team.

Since its initial release in 2019, Necesse has attracted an impressive 2.5 million players. Fireshine’s future plans for Necesse include ongoing support for PC and expanding to other platforms.

Fair Games announced on Steam that Fireshine will assist with various tasks such as publishing and porting, while Fair Games will retain control over the game’s direction and future updates.

Skovgaard expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with Fireshine Games marks a significant milestone for Fair Games. With their expertise and resources, we anticipate a bright future for Necesse and its global fan base.”

Jasper Tanner-Barnes, Fireshine’s chief portfolio officer, emphasized the importance of passion and vision in game development, highlighting the necessity for a unique and captivating gaming experience.

He added, “Identifying a successful game is not formulaic. Our focus is on selecting projects that inspire us and offer something truly exceptional to players. It’s about standing out in a crowded market.”
