Four teams are gearing up for an intense battle to secure a spot in the Swiss Stage at Worlds 2026 Play-In. FURIA will face off against MVK Esports, while Cloud9 Kia will take on Karmine Corp in the best-of-five double-elimination bracket happening in Los Angeles from October 15-18.
The draw took place on Saturday, October 10, following FURIA’s defeat to LOS in the CBLOL final. LOS claimed Brazil’s direct Swiss berth, leaving FURIA to fight for the remaining Play-In slot. The match schedule is yet to be confirmed.
Four teams, one unforgiving route
The bracket kicks off with the matchup between FURIA and MVK Esports on one side, while Cloud9 Kia and Karmine Corp will battle it out on the other side in the first round. With no seeding pots or regional limitations in place, any combination of the four teams was possible.

Each series will be a best-of-five, with teams having a chance to recover from a loss due to the double-elimination format. The winners of the opening matches will face off in the upper bracket, while the losers will move to the lower bracket, where another loss will lead to elimination. The team defeated in the lower bracket will finish in 19th place.
Following this, the loser from the upper bracket will compete against the surviving team from the lower bracket. This series will determine the team moving on to the final qualifying match, with the loser securing 18th place. The final match will grant the winner a spot in the Swiss Stage and mark the end of the loser’s Worlds journey in 17th place. Over four days, six Bo5 series will be played in the bracket.
A valuable advantage awaits the team reaching the final from the upper bracket: the Right of Dual Selection for Game 1, allowing them to choose both side and pick order. This added control can be crucial in a lengthy series.
The main event is still a long way off
The Play-In victor will join the 15 teams already qualified for the 16-team Swiss Stage, commencing on October 23 in Allen, Texas. Teams will need three wins to secure a spot in the Knockout Stage, with three losses resulting in elimination. Qualifying through Los Angeles is just the initial challenge, with only one team progressing and three being eliminated.
The diversity of regional paths to Worlds is evident in the team lineup. Karmine Corp represents the LEC’s third seed, Cloud9 Kia the LCS third seed, and MVK Esports the LCP third seed, while FURIA enters as CBLOL’s second seed after the final against LOS. Movistar KOI’s inclusion among the LEC’s Worlds qualifiers showcases how regional performances impact the broader tournament.
From October 15 to November 14, Worlds will take place, culminating in the final at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. However, for the four Play-In contenders, the immediate goal is clear: win the opening Bo5, navigate the bracket, and secure the sole ticket out of Los Angeles.
