Hanwha Life Esports Brion (HLE) concluded the first round with a decisive 2-0 win over DN Superus, breaking their losing streak and entering the second round with a positive momentum. Following the match, we had a conversation with ‘Casting’ Shin Min-je, who delved into the reasons behind the team’s recent struggles and the steps taken to turn things around.
Reflecting on their victory against DNS that put an end to their six-game losing streak, ‘Casting’ expressed, “I believe we should have secured more wins in the first round. It’s disappointing that we couldn’t showcase our full potential, which is why winning today was crucial.”
When asked about the challenges faced during the slump and the team’s focus on improvement, he explained, “We experimented with various strategies, meticulously analyzing our performance to pinpoint our persistent issues and address the root causes.”
“Through numerous discussions, we identified that our primary setback was excelling in the early and mid-game but faltering in the later stages. We honed our communication to tackle this issue, and I believe our progress was evident in today’s performance. However, there’s still room for refinement to continue our growth,” he remarked.
He also shared insights on the current top-lane meta, stating, “While the laning phase posed challenges for the top lane in today’s match, I had confidence in our mid-to-late game teamfights. This was made possible by the exceptional performance of our bottom lane and jungle in the early game, creating pressure on our opponents.”
“In the current meta, a top laner’s stability during the early and mid-game, especially in adverse situations, is crucial. Adapting to create opportunities when the team is behind is equally important,” he elaborated.
When questioned about overcoming mid-game struggles, ‘Casting’ emphasized the significance of effective communication within the team. “League of Legends is a collaborative game, but each player interprets feedback differently based on their unique circumstances. Synergy stems from harmonizing diverse viewpoints into cohesive actions,” he highlighted.
“It’s essential for the majority to actively engage in communication and coordination to reach optimal decisions. Experience plays a vital role in this process, fostering efficient teamwork through repeated interactions,” he added.
