SOOP is strategically expanding its reach in the global market by enhancing content broadcasting and features after integrating its domestic and international platforms. The introduction of multilingual broadcasts for esports leagues such as ‘League of Legends’ and AI-powered subtitle translation has attracted a diverse international audience, including viewers interested in baseball and billiards.
The company is focusing on expanding its global content operations in regions like Thailand, Taiwan, Western markets, and Vietnam. Since merging its Korean and global platforms earlier this year, SOOP has been providing multilingual broadcasts for major ‘League of Legends’ leagues like the LCK and LPL. In May, SOOP gained traction among international users by exclusively broadcasting the ‘Road to EWC’ in English and Chinese.
In terms of platform functionality, SOOP has integrated the AI subtitle translation feature from its global platform into its unified service. This advancement enables real-time communication with international viewers watching streams featuring popular players like Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok and Han ‘Peanut’ Wang-ho, as well as facilitating online fan meetings for a global audience.
The platform’s viewership is not limited to gaming content, as it has attracted a growing number of non-gaming viewers. In addition to overseas Koreans and KBO League fans abroad, many Asian fans are tuning in to support players from their home countries who joined the league through the Asian Quarter system earlier this year. Notably, performances by Hanwha Eagles pitcher Wang Wei-chung have garnered significant attention from Taiwanese fans, as well as streamers hosting ‘watch parties’ with biased commentary. One of Wang Wei-chung’s matches against the Samsung Lions on April 16 reached approximately 80k cumulative viewers.
Through its collaboration with the UMB, SOOP is steadily growing its global audience for billiards, including the 3-Cushion World Cup. Particularly, billiards broadcasts hosted by Vietnamese streamer Minh Dien have consistently maintained popularity, attracting an average of 20k to 30k concurrent viewers during matches featuring Vietnamese players.
