Dplus KIA emerged victorious over kt Rolster with a 2-1 score in the Legend Group match of the 2026 LoL Champions Korea (LCK) regular season Round 3, held at LoL PARK in Jongno, Seoul, on the 9th. Despite a setback in the first set, they managed to turn the tide and secure a comeback win by clinching the next two sets. With this win, their 14th of the season, Dplus KIA has narrowed the gap with kt Rolster to just one game, keeping their hopes for a top-tier finish alive.
In a post-match interview with INVEN, Dplus KIA’s top laner ‘Siwoo’ Jeong Si-woo appeared visibly disappointed. “Even though we secured the win, I can’t say I’m completely satisfied,” he remarked. “I need to return to the practice room, analyze our performance thoroughly, and prepare diligently to deliver an even better showing in the future,” he added, displaying his competitive spirit.
Reflecting on the loss in the first set, ‘Siwoo’ expressed regret over his own gameplay, stating, “I regret not playing with more confidence during the laning phase.” He went on to explain, “Both teams opted for champions with high mobility in the mid-jungle, but we faltered in the early skirmish at the Raptors, leading to a snowball effect that spiraled out of control. It wasn’t a composition we usually focus on in practice.”
From the second set onwards, Dplus KIA adjusted their strategy in the pick-ban phase to maintain constant pressure, forcing their opponents into hasty decisions while securing late-game advantages.
‘Siwoo’ highlighted their solid draft choices, sticking to their practiced strategies. “Our pick-ban phase in the third set worked out in our favor. Once they selected an AP champion for their ADC, K’Sante became unkillable. Moreover, we had lane priority across the board, making the game relatively straightforward for us to navigate.”
The current LCK standings are tightly contested, intensifying the race for positioning. Despite the pressure, ‘Siwoo’ appears to relish the challenge. “It’s been a while since the standings were this close. It fuels my competitive drive even more. Each victory feels like climbing a staircase one step at a time, which is quite enjoyable,” he shared with a smile.
Identifying ‘laning phase strength’ as a critical focus for surviving the fierce competition, ‘Siwoo’ emphasized, “Our team’s synergy in macro play is already strong. Our main objective now is to enhance our early-game laning prowess and avoid falling into the opponent’s traps too easily.”
Dplus KIA is set to face kt Rolster once again in their upcoming match. ‘Siwoo’ expressed his determination, stating, “I was disappointed to give up a solo kill in the first set today. I’ll make sure to turn the tables in our next encounter.”
