Shinji Mikami, the mastermind behind Resident Evil, is set to join the Hall of Fame of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) next year.
With a career spanning three decades, Mikami has brought to life iconic IPs such as Devil May Cry, The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush, and Ghostwire: Tokyo, showcasing his dedication to fostering creative environments for emerging game developers.
Currently serving as the creative director and CEO of Unbound Inc., Mikami continues to inspire the gaming community with his originality and visionary approach.
AIAS president Meggan Scavio expressed, “Shinji Mikami’s impact on both fans and developers is immeasurable. His innovative spirit has left a lasting mark on the action game genre, making him a deserving honoree for our 30th anniversary D.I.C.E. Awards.”
Suda51, also known as Goichi Suda, will have the honor of presenting the award to Mikami. Reflecting on his mentorship under Mikami, Suda51 shared, “Learning from Mikami-san has shaped my approach to game development as a director and designer. Being chosen to present him with this prestigious accolade is truly humbling.”
The Hall of Fame at the DICE Awards has previously welcomed industry luminaries like Evan Wells of Naughty Dog and Ted Price of Insomniac Games. Notable recipients in recent years include Koji Kondo, Tim Schafer of Double Fine Productions, Ed Boon of Mortal Kombat fame, and Connie Booth, former head of internal production at PlayStation.
