PUBG MOBILE Esports has announced that the 2026 PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO) Season 1 has exceeded one million registered participants, a milestone unveiled as the game celebrated its eighth anniversary.
As per the announcement, sign-ups for the competition commenced on February 5th and drew players from over 200 countries and regions. The company emphasized its broader vision of ‘Battlegrounds for Everyone’, aiming to provide a more inclusive path for both casual and professional players to enter competitive gaming.
The journey to PMGO is now in progress, with national and regional qualifiers taking place from March to May. Teams are vying for points through eliminations and final rankings, with the top-performing teams progressing to the Main Event.
The main event of the 2026 PMGO Season 1 is scheduled to occur in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 2nd to 7th. Here, established professional teams will compete alongside newly-qualified amateur squads for a part of the $500,000 (~£375,000) prize pool.
The tournament format is designed to showcase PUBG MOBILE Esports’ progression from grassroots competitions to the global stage. The organizers highlighted that the event will feature both experienced teams and up-and-coming talent, with qualification still ongoing in various regions.
The competition is part of PUBG MOBILE Esports’ broader 2026 calendar. The release mentioned that PMGO Season 1 will lead into other major events later in the year, including the 2026 PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMWC) and the 2026 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC).
The achievement of one million registrations serves as an early sign of the sustained global interest in PUBG MOBILE Esports’ competitive ecosystem. It also provides the company with a strong start for 2026 as mobile esports platforms continue to emphasize expanding participation from amateurs to elite competitors.
