Nintendo has released its financial results for the full year, showing significant growth in net sales and profits after the first fiscal year of the Switch 2.

The company also announced price hikes for the new console in Japan, the US, Canada, and Europe due to changes in market conditions such as ongoing memory component shortages.

Prices for the original Switch lineup in Japan and Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions will also see increases.

Nintendo’s forecast for FY27 takes these changes into account and reflects the strong launch sales of the console compared to previous hardware releases.

The highlights

Nintendo saw a 106.7% increase in dedicated platform sales, reaching ¥2.2 trillion ($14 billion) from hardware, software, and accessories.

The Switch 2 had a strong start after its launch in June 2025, achieving the highest global sales of any Nintendo platform in its first four months and surpassing the original Switch’s first full fiscal year sales.

Pokémon Pokopia, released in March 2026, boosted Switch 2 hardware sales, with total units sold reaching 19.86 million.

Switch 2 software sales hit 48.71 million units, with titles like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza performing well.

Downloadable versions of games like Pokémon Legends: Z-A also contributed to the overall Switch software sales.

Original Switch hardware sales totaled 3.80 million units, showing continued demand for the system despite being in its 10th year since launch.

Switch OLED and Switch Lite sales saw decreases compared to the previous year, while total Switch software sales reached 136.91 million units.

Nintendo’s IP-related business generated ¥73.5 billion in sales, with highlights like the Super Mario Galaxy Movie grossing over $800 million worldwide in its first four weeks.

The company aims to maintain momentum for the Switch 2 hardware and software sales, with forecasts predicting a decline in hardware sales but an increase in software sales.

Nintendo remains optimistic about the future growth of its installed base and the appeal of its products worldwide.
