KT Rolster coach ‘Score’ Ko Dong-bin, who recorded five consecutive wins in the opening game by defeating Dplus Kia, responded positively to the round victory.
KT achieved a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Dplus Kia in the 3rd week of the LCK held at the LCK Arena at Gran Seoul LoL Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 15th. KT, which won, continued its sole lead with five consecutive wins (+8) in the opening game. Dplus Kia suffered its 3rd loss (2 wins) of the season.
Coach Ko Dong-bin said in an interview after the game, “Today’s opponent played well. I am happy that we also showed an equally good performance.” He added, “D Plus Kia performed well in the game against Gen.G Esports, and showed good performance and ban picks. I thought we might struggle today. Still, I thought our improvement was more important than being conscious of D Plus Kia. I focused on improving my performance.”
Regarding the use of Naphyri against top Varus in the 3rd set, he said, “This year’s meta has created a quest, and laning has become important. All teams are bringing out champions who are good for laning, value, and ganking. That’s why it seems that champions who are strong in laning are appearing at the top.”
When asked about what he was satisfied with in the game, coach Go Dong-bin said, “Dplus Kia used grab champions throughout the set, allowing the jungle and supports to use the map widely. The opponent did well, and although our response was not perfect, the use of champions was good. Going into the second half, I thought it was good in one hit. The players showed good play.”
Regarding the pressure of winning the opening 5 games in a row and the goal of winning the whole round, Coach Ko said with a smile, “Rather than feeling pressure, we do not think of it as a streak of wins because we did well. We will just feel good and improve our performance. I thought the teams we faced up to today have improved their performance. There will be no team that is easy. I can’t say for sure, but I think it would be good to win the round.”
