Hanwha Life Insurance (Co-CEOs Kwon Hyuk-woong and Lee Kyung-geun) revealed on the 6th that it has finalized an “Official Sponsorship Agreement for the 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games Esports National Team” with the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA).
A ceremony was conducted at KeSPA’s headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, with key representatives from both sides present, including Hanwha Life Insurance Vice President Eom Seong-min and KeSPA President Kim Young-man.
According to the agreement, Hanwha Life Insurance will act as the exclusive official sponsor for the esports national team in the financial sector until the end of the year.
Hanwha Life Insurance intends to support the team’s preparations to ensure that the national squad—comprising about 50 athletes across nine titles—can deliver top-notch performances. This includes sponsoring Asian Games evaluation matches and establishing a broader partnership to support Korea’s esports national team.
The company also aims to utilize esports as a platform to provide unique brand experiences to global customers. In particular, it plans to utilize digital channels like the LIFEPLUS TRIBES app to increase nationwide support and enthusiasm while expanding its brand presence overall.
Since 2018, Hanwha Life Insurance has been actively involved in initiatives that bridge finance and esports. It was the first company in Korea’s financial sector to establish and manage a League of Legends professional team, Hanwha Life Esports (HLE). Through these endeavors, the company has positioned esports not just as a sponsorship category, but as a crucial touchpoint for engaging the next generation, while sustaining various efforts to help esports solidify its position as mainstream culture.
A representative from Hanwha Life Insurance stated, “The company has been actively engaging with the next generation through esports and has played a leading role in helping the industry become a mainstream culture,” noting, “Through sponsoring the Asian Games esports national team, we aim to strengthen our position as a top-tier financial institution, increase brand recognition among global esports enthusiasts, and expand our influence in the global market.”
A representative from KeSPA commented, “This partnership with Hanwha Life, which has demonstrated genuine dedication to esports, is highly significant as it provides Korea’s esports national team with a strong supporter on their journey to the Asian Games.” The representative added, “Building on our collaboration with Hanwha Life, the Association will do everything possible to ensure the national team can focus on preparing for the competition in optimal condition.”
