If you’ve been feeling like the pace of the Apex Games has been a bit slow lately, Respawn has the perfect solution for you. Season 29, known as Overclocked, is now live in Apex Legends. This update is all about speed, resets, and ensuring that no one is left out of the action for too long.
The star of the show is Axle, a new Skirmisher who puts Octane to shame with her speed. It’s truly a sight to behold.
Axle is designed for players who thrive on sliding. Her passive ability gives her increased speed and better control while sliding. Her tactical ability, the Nitro Gate, creates a speed-boosting doorway for the entire team. And if things get hectic, her Kickstart ultimate deploys an enemy-seeking drone that launches targets into the air.
Faster Respawns and Easy Healing
The way we approach the mid-game has changed significantly. You can now respawn teammates directly from their deathboxes, taking only seven seconds and making quite a bit of noise. This eliminates the frantic rush to a distant beacon as the ring closes in.
There’s also a new “Chain Healing” system in place. You can now queue up your next healing item while the current one is still working, eliminating any downtime between using different healing items. You can even set this to “Auto” in your settings to keep the healing process going until your health bars are full.
Who’s Up and Who’s Down?

Vantage and Conduit are the standout winners this season. Vantage has undergone a major revamp for her sniper rifle, now equipped with a new toggleable 2x canted sight and improved handling. Additionally, pinging enemies with her passive ability now fills 70% of her ultimate meter, ensuring she always has her rifle ready. Conduit now starts with two tactical charges by default, making her a much more reliable support choice.
On the other hand, Alter has been hit with some nerfs. Her tactical ability now has a longer cooldown, and the range of her ultimate has been reduced. It seems Respawn felt she was a bit too dominant in high-level play.
The Latest Additions
For the collectors out there, the Twin Razors universal mythic melee weapon is now up for grabs. These are rotating laser blades that any legend can wield, and you can find them in the Overclocked seasonal packs.
In terms of the map changes, Storm Point and Olympus no longer have their Tridents. Broken Moon has also undergone significant adjustments, with most of the long-range ziprails between points of interest being removed in favor of strategically placed redeploy balloons to streamline rotations and prevent them from feeling tedious.
Now that deathbox respawns are possible, eliminating a downed enemy has become even more crucial. Be sure to clear those boxes or be prepared to face the same opponent twice.
