Professional League operator TJ Sports from China has imposed a fine of ¥150,000 RMB ($22,160 USD) on Bilibili Gaming (BLG) player Chen “Bin” Zebin and publicly reprimanded him for failing to fulfill a mandatory fan-interaction obligation during an LPL match day on June 3.
As per TJ Sports’ statement, Bin did not take part in the post-match stage walkout, where players are supposed to engage with fans by high-fiving them in a designated area. The league considers this activity a standard professional duty for LPL players.
TJ Sports stated that this behavior violated Article 12.2.2 of the League of Legends Professional League Competition Rules. The league operator mentioned that such actions go against the expected professional conduct of LPL players, disrupt the standard match-day proceedings, and negatively impact the audience’s experience.
Bilibili Gaming was fined ¥50,000 ($7,386) and received a public reprimand as well. TJ Sports mentioned that the organization’s pre-match management was lacking, and BLG failed to adequately fulfill its supervisory responsibilities.
This disciplinary action highlights the importance that China’s premier League of Legends competition places on live-event presentation and fan engagement as integral components of a club’s professional responsibilities, rather than optional promotional activities.
