Many fans are expressing disappointment with Black Ops 7 due to the presence of giant plants and zombies as enemies in the solo campaign, along with the absence of a pause option.

The Call of Duty community is not holding back in their criticism of the game’s latest release. The main source of frustration seems to be the story campaign of Black Ops 7.

This installment takes some bold risks that are not resonating well with the majority of fans and influencers in the Call of Duty community.

What’s causing the uproar?

There are several key points of contention that are fueling dissatisfaction and confusion among players.

No pause option: Players are unable to pause the game during the campaign, even when playing solo. This means that taking a break or being inactive for too long will result in being kicked out and having to restart the entire mission.

No save points: Throughout our thorough testing of the campaign, we did not encounter any save points within missions. This lack of checkpoints means that failing or needing to stop midway through a mission will require starting over from the beginning.

No AI companions: When playing alone, the game does not provide any computer-controlled allies to help balance the gameplay. This makes it much more challenging to take on enemies like zombies, giants, and monstrous plants without any assistance.

The setting: Those expecting a futuristic spy thriller will be disappointed by the unconventional story in Black Ops 7. The narrative takes some unexpected turns, with players encountering hallucinations of enemies such as zombie hordes and giant carnivorous plants.

Well-known figures in the Call of Duty community have shared their thoughts on the game.

This is one of the worst, if not the worst, Call of Duty campaigns I’ve ever played. I give it a 3/10, I truly believe it’s worse than MW3 and significantly worse than BO3… This campaign is truly a joke.

Black Ops 7 currently has a concerning 51% positive user rating on Steam. With only around 250 reviews so far, most criticisms revolve around the unconventional design choices in the campaign.

Given the focus on co-op gameplay and the unusual setting of the campaign, many players are drawing comparisons to Call of Duty Zombies, although this was not expected. The traditional grounded and complex storytelling of Black Ops seems to have taken a backseat, prompting players to shift their attention to the multiplayer mode for a different experience. Stay tuned for updates on how the multiplayer aspect of the game fares.
