According to former and current employees at Gunzilla Games, the company behind blockchain game Off The Grid and owner of Game Informer, there have been reports of unpaid salaries for several months.
Workers have taken to social media to voice their grievances, including talent acquisition lead Anna Savina, who publicly mentioned experiencing “significant salary delays” without any explanation. Savina later updated her post to confirm that the issue has been resolved.
In response to Savina’s post, other Gunzilla staff members shared their own experiences. One former employee, principal hard surface artist Oleksandr Linovichenko, who left the company in October, revealed that he had not been paid for his work in August and September. This situation was mirrored by another former principal artist, Anton Kharyn.
Meanwhile, Canadian contractor Paul Creamer stated that he has not received payment since October 2025, despite working at Gunzilla until December under the assumption that he would be compensated for his services.
Creamer mentioned, “Upper management assured us that these delays were temporary and part of the challenges faced by a new company launching a new game.”
Both Creamer and Savina’s LinkedIn posts were flagged for violating the platform’s “Professional Community Policies.”
Former and current employees interviewed by GamesIndustry.biz allege that this payment issue has persisted for some time. Ukrainian staff members claimed they had not been paid for approximately six months, with some individuals owed up to four or five months’ worth of salary.
International contractors were also affected, reporting similar delays in payment since October 2025, despite repeated assurances from the company that their compensation was forthcoming.
While staff in the UK and Germany have been paid on time, Gunzilla’s UK branch has occasionally missed payment deadlines. As of the latest update, some employees in the UK and Germany have not been compensated for their work in March.
UK employees also raised concerns about pension payments, noting that Gunzilla failed to make contributions to their pension plans between May and September, despite deductions being made from their pay. The company attributed this issue to its payroll provider and claimed to be actively resolving it. Although outstanding contributions were backpaid in October, no further payments have been made since November.
Gunzilla UK underwent a name change to Geofvision on April 6, as confirmed by Companies House records.
Former contractors who parted ways with Gunzilla disclosed that their final payments had been delayed, with some individuals only receiving what they were owed after threatening legal action. Multiple complaints and accusations against the company have been posted on Ukrainian games industry forums.
Despite management’s outward portrayal of business as usual, employees facing unpaid wages have created a custom emoji in the Gunzilla Slack channel depicting a beggar asking for change. Often, posts from Korolov in Slack receive more reactions with that emoji than actual replies.
Gunzilla was established in 2020 with a $25 million investment from VC firm GameGroove, led by former Crytek Kyiv CEO Alexander Zoll, who assumed the role of chief strategy officer at the company.
The company operates offices in Frankfurt, Kyiv, LA, and London. Their debut title, Off The Grid, a third-person battle royale developed in collaboration with director Neill Blomkamp, was announced in 2022.
The game boasted extensive Web3 integration with “optional” NFT-based item trading and reportedly sold access to in-game valuation nodes to investors in 2022. Although initially slated for a 2023 release, the game entered Early Access in October 2024. Gunzilla acquired Game Informer in 2025 after the magazine’s closure by previous owner GameStop and rehired the editorial team.
