June was a standout month in the 2026 esports calendar, with several tournaments breaking records and attracting millions of viewers. The momentum in esports viewership this year has been remarkable, with seven tournaments surpassing 1 million Peak Viewers and three hitting over 2 million.
Notable global records were set in one of the biggest esports titles, showcasing the diversity and popularity of competitive gaming. Beyond the usual major clashes, a national-team tournament also made waves, proving that country-based competitions can draw significant audiences alongside traditional club formats.
MPL Indonesia Leads June’s Rankings
MPL Indonesia Season 17 emerged as the most-watched esports tournament in June, with nearly 2.95 million Peak Viewers tuning in to witness the Grand Final between Bigetron by Vitality and ONIC Esports. Bigetron’s historic 4:1 victory secured their first MPL Indonesia title, making it the second most popular Mobile Legends tournament of 2026 at that time. Additionally, English-language broadcasts for the league exceeded 250,000 Peak Viewers for the first time ever.
IEM Cologne Major 2026 followed closely with over 2.75 million Peak Viewers, setting new records for Counter-Strike tournaments. The event became the discipline’s all-time leader in Peak Viewers, Average Viewers, and Hours Watched, surpassing 100 million Hours Watched for the first time. Team Falcons clinched a dominant 3:0 victory over FURIA in the final, marking major milestones for players Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov. The success of the event was attributed to strong production value, diverse regional representation, and a wide co-streaming network, with community broadcasts contributing significantly to the overall viewership.

LCK 2026 Road to MSI secured third place with a thrilling series between T1 and Gen.G, reaching 2.27 million Peak Viewers. T1 emerged victorious with a close 3:2 win, earning South Korea’s second MSI spot alongside Hanwha Life Esports. Notably, Road to MSI became only the third LCK event to surpass 2 million concurrent viewers, establishing itself as the most popular League of Legends tournament of 2026 up to that point.
Mid-Season Invitational 2026 entered the top five rankings despite commencing on June 28, reflecting the initial two days of the ongoing tournament. The Play-In matches attracted over 1.39 million Peak Viewers during T1’s matchups against Team Liquid, surpassing the peak viewership of the 2025 Play-In stage. T1’s strong performance, combined with the tournament being held on home soil, led to a significant increase in Korean-language Peak Viewers compared to the previous year. The tournament’s final outcome, set to be determined in July, is expected to differ substantially from its June figures.
2026 Asian Games Southeast Asia MLBB Qualifiers rounded off the rankings with over 1.27 million Peak Viewers. The peak viewership occurred during Malaysia‘s victory over Indonesia, propelling the regional qualifier into the year’s top ten most-watched esports tournaments at that time. Unlike the club-based competitions dominating the other top positions, this event featured national teams vying for five spots at the Asian Games.
IEM Cologne Dominates English-Language Viewership
When focusing on English-language broadcasts, IEM Cologne Major maintained its lead with over 1.08 million Peak Viewers, more than double the viewership of any other event in the top five. LCK 2026 Road to MSI and MPL Indonesia Season 17 also made the cut, albeit at slightly lower positions when excluding audiences watching in other languages.

Valorant Masters London 2026 claimed second place, with its English-language audience peaking at 483,625 concurrent viewers during the grand final between Leviatán and Paper Rex. Leviatán’s victory in the five-map series marked the tournament’s success in surpassing Masters Santiago as the most popular Valorant Masters event of 2026 based on overall Peak Viewers.
An unexpected contender, Jynxzi’s Streamer 3v3 Rocket League Tourney, secured third place with just over 476,000 English-language Peak Viewers. This marked the second consecutive month where a tournament led by Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart made it to the top rankings, following a successful League of Legends event in May. The event’s viewership was boosted by a dedicated Rocket League promotion and Twitch Drops, offering exclusive in-game cosmetics to viewers.
ESL and MPL Indonesia Dominate Esports Channel Rankings in June
The channel rankings closely mirrored the tournament results mentioned earlier. ESL’s primary Counter-Strike channels took the top spots in Hours Watched, with the organization’s YouTube channel accumulating 12.95 million hours and its Twitch channel adding another 11.51 million during the IEM Cologne Major. MPL Indonesia led the Peak Viewers ranking, peaking at 806,000 concurrent viewers on its main YouTube channel during the Season 17 final.

KRAFTON India Esports also stood out, ranking third in Hours Watched with 9.3 million and second in Peak Viewers with 451,000. The success was driven by the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series 2026, which set a new BGMI esports viewership record as GodLike staged a remarkable comeback in the Grand Finals. The tournament attracted nearly 730,000 Peak Viewers across all broadcasts, accumulating over 12.7 million Hours Watched.
