BC.Game has decided to bench Denis “electroNic” Sharipov after nearly a year as part of the starting lineup, as reported by HLTV. According to reports from HLTV and Dust2.us, the organization is in the final stages of confirming Tyson “asap” Paterson from THUNDER dOWNUNDER as his replacement.
The decision to make this change is primarily based on regional classification rather than just individual performance. BC.Game is currently ranked 36th in Europe’s VRS rankings, which falls short of the direct invite range for the PGL Major in Singapore. By bringing in an Australian player like asap, the team can now register as an Asian core alongside the Mongolian duo of Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold and Ayush “mzinho” Batbold, creating a new path for qualification. This move is reminiscent of Liquid’s acquisition of Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa, which secured them an invite to IEM Cologne from the Americas region.
electroNic’s time with the team reached its peak with a first-place finish at Elisa BreakOut Series #1. However, the team faced challenges as they failed to advance in seven consecutive qualifiers before finally securing a spot at Stake Pulse Beat III last week. Throughout the last three months, electroNic maintained an average rating of 0.99 across 21 maps.
BC.Game CEO Ali Muhanned on the timing
When asked about the decision, BC.Game CEO Ali Muhanned clarified that the choice to bench electroNic was not a result of his individual performance.
“It has nothing to do with electroNic. If we had more time for the Major, I would have actually given him more time just because the team is new.”
For 23-year-old asap, joining BC.Game would mark his first venture outside of an Australian organization. Should the move be confirmed, the roster would consist of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold, Emil “Magisk” Reif, Ayush “mzinho” Batbold, and Tyson “asap” Paterson, with Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas remaining as coach.
While HLTV and Dust2.us have reported on the benching of electroNic, there has been no official confirmation from BC.Game regarding the signing of asap. At this point, the addition of asap is still considered a reported move.
