Justinas “jL” Lekavicius is set to participate in ESL Pro League Season 24 with Team Vitality, although his role as a starter is not confirmed. His presence on the team is seen as a precautionary measure, specifically in case Vitality’s captain, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, needs to depart the tournament early due to the impending birth of his child. Currently, Vitality intends to begin the event with their usual starting lineup.
A reserve, not a roster swap
The information comes from James “BanKs” Banks on his All About Counter-Strike podcast, with Sport.ua referencing HLTV as the source. This move is a sensible precaution rather than a flashy acquisition: in the event of a personal emergency forcing the captain out of the tournament, having an experienced player already on standby is preferable to scrambling for a replacement at the last minute.
What stands out here is the cautious approach taken. The reports do not confirm that jL will play any matches, assume leadership responsibilities, or even participate if apEX remains for the entire event. This is all about planning for contingencies, not making immediate lineup changes – a distinction that is important to maintain as the term “reserve” often morphs into “confirmed stand-in” once rumors start circulating.
What Vitality does next
Vitality’s current strategy is to stick with their main lineup from the start of the tournament. The main question is whether apEX will indeed have to step away before the event concludes, and if jL will be called into action as a result. The current reports do not guarantee jL’s appearance beyond being present as a safety measure.
Should apEX need to leave early, Vitality may turn to jL as their reserve player. This situation differs from the roster changes FaZe faced when karrigan departed for Falcons – the specifics of that move are not covered in the current reports; however, Vitality aims to prevent disruptions by quietly having a backup plan in place.
