Exciting news for CS2 fans as Perfect World announces the return of a Shanghai Major for Counter-Strike 2 in late 2027, as reported by Dust2.us. Mark your calendars for the event running from 22 November to 12 December, featuring a substantial $1.25 million prize pool.

Building on the success of previous events, Perfect World confirms China as the host for the second Major of the year, with Shanghai being the chosen city, as confirmed by HLTV. While venue details are yet to be revealed, the 2024 Shanghai Major saw massive crowds throughout the stages, proving the city’s strong esports following.

The 2027 Shanghai Major will maintain the format introduced in 2025, with 32 teams competing across three Swiss stages before progressing to the eight-team playoff bracket.

In other Major news, HLTV’s report on the first Major of 2027 being held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, finalizes the calendar for next year’s Major events.

Shanghai’s hosting marks the third time Asia has welcomed a CS2 Major, following the original event in 2024 and the upcoming PGL Singapore 2026. This continued investment in Asian venues by Perfect World signifies a significant shift in the geographical landscape of the esports circuit.
