The South Korea debut of Riftbound is finally real with Origins set

Circle September 18, 2026, on your calendar. The beloved physical card game from the League of Legends universe, Riftbound, is ready to make its mark in South Korea. With Korean gamers’ longstanding passion for League, the arrival of its tabletop counterpart feels like a long-awaited reunion rather than just a regional launch.

If you find yourself in Seoul around mid-September, don’t miss the launch party at Gen.G GGX and the Yongsan IPark Dopamine Station. Attendees can learn the game, acquire the debut Origins set, and perhaps snag some exclusive event goodies before they disappear.

Staying Updated Without Overwhelm

Launching a card game late in a new country brings challenges, especially when global players are already ahead with later expansions. To prevent local players from feeling overwhelmed, the rollout plan is ambitious.

The initial Origins set arrives in September, followed by Spiritforged in December. The year 2027 is packed with seven expansion releases to align Korean players with the global release schedule by early 2028.

To ensure fair early tournaments, a temporary competitive format called Korean Standard will be implemented. Players will start with only Origins legal at launch, gradually adding new sets as they are released in the region.

This approach ensures that players won’t face complex, high-level decks from future expansions right at the start.

A Korean launch wouldn’t be complete without impressive collectibles. The lineup features:

• Overnumber Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox: An ultra-rare variant with custom art inspired by Dynasty Ahri, created by Riftbound’s art director, Allen Song.

• Jinx, Demolitionist: A special launch promo version of her classic card artwork seen during MSI and Wildfest events.

While local game stores will host weekly Nexus Night casual sessions, Riftbound is also embracing local gaming culture by partnering with PC bangs.
