NVIDIA has introduced the beta version of Auto Shader Compilation in the NVIDIA app following the launch of DLSS 6X Multi-Frame Generation and Dynamic FG. This new feature aims to tackle the issue of shader recompilation that occurs after every driver update, ultimately reducing game load times and improving the overall user experience.

It’s important to note that NVIDIA’s Auto Shader Compilation is distinct from Microsoft’s Advanced Shader Delivery, which was recently announced. Here’s what you need to know about this latest development.

NVIDIA Auto Shader Compilation Beta Now Available in NVIDIA App

NVIDIA has rolled out the Auto Shader Compilation Beta feature in the NVIDIA app to speed up game load times post-driver updates. Shader recompilation has long been a pain point for PC gamers, especially when updating drivers triggers the need for games to recompile shaders, causing significant delays and impacting user experience.

The Auto Shader Compilation feature is designed to automatically recompile shaders for all installed games on your PC either during idle periods or upon user demand following a driver update. As a result, when you launch a game, it will load without the need for recompilation, saving valuable time.

For this feature to work effectively, a game must have already compiled its shaders before a driver update. If you’ve played the game previously, chances are the shaders have been rebuilt.

With NVIDIA Auto Shader Compilation, the NVIDIA app will seamlessly rebuild the shaders of your installed games in the background after a driver update, ensuring they are ready for your next gaming session. Additionally, users have the option to manually trigger shader rebuilds for specific titles through the app if needed.

NVIDIA has clarified that this feature differs from Microsoft’s Advanced Shader Delivery, which is set to debut in the first half of 2026. While Advanced Shader Delivery is designed to download a game’s shaders concurrently with the game itself, NVIDIA’s Auto Shader Compilation is available now. However, users should be aware that this feature is currently in beta and may not work flawlessly at all times.
