Roblox has introduced an innovative AI feature for its Roblox Studio tool aimed at game creators. This feature is designed to transform text prompts into a detailed game design document that the tool can then implement and test. According to the company, creators can simply describe their vision, and the Planning Mode will break down each step needed to bring it to life, gathering feedback to refine the details and execute the plan.
Explaining the rationale behind this development, Roblox stated in a blog post that game development is a complex process that involves multiple steps and disciplines, requiring continuous exploration and iteration. The company emphasized the importance of avoiding AI tools that provide quick but inaccurate solutions, opting instead to enhance Planning Mode to function as a collaborative partner for creators. This updated feature analyzes the game’s code and data model, asks clarifying questions, and translates intricate prompts into comprehensive, editable action plans.
Creators can customize the plan to ensure it aligns with their original vision before any changes are implemented. The plan acts as a compact game design document that agents can follow to execute tasks simultaneously and ensure alignment with the creator’s intent.
In addition to this, the company unveiled a “playtesting agent beta” that tests the generated game against the initial plan. This agent evaluates the code and data model, reviews logs, and utilizes the player character as an automated quality assurance tester to validate behavior.
Roblox highlighted the potential for incorporating this process into future planning iterations, creating a self-improving system that enhances accuracy over time. Furthermore, the company announced an upcoming tool for procedurally generating game assets, enabling users to produce gameplay objects that can be easily scaled to fit within the game world.
Recent initiatives by Roblox include the introduction of new child safety features and parental controls, coinciding with a $10 million settlement with the state of Nevada to address issues related to child safety. The company faces numerous similar cases, as reported by Reuters. Roblox also implemented a requirement for a paid subscription to publish games on its platform, citing safety concerns and aiming to offset substantial losses, which totaled $316 million in the final quarter of 2025.
