PlatinumGames, the developers behind Bayonetta, are working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin because they are passionate fans of the franchise, revealed Dan Prigg, the head of the recently announced Paramount Games Studio. The announcement was made during the Summer Game Fest showcase.
Paramount Games Studio, a new venture by Paramount following their merger with Skydance in August 2025, has revamped its focus to include game development. Previously known for licensed products like a SpongeBob SquarePants game for Roblox, the studio is now venturing into original game creation.
Prigg, formerly of Skydance Interactive and now leading Paramount’s gaming division, shared that PlatinumGames’ interest in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IP was evident even before the merger. The enthusiasm from both sides to collaborate on the project was palpable, with Prigg expressing his belief that this partnership was long overdue.
Describing PlatinumGames as a top-tier studio with a genuine passion for Paramount’s intellectual property, Prigg emphasized the importance of finding such dedicated partners for game development.
Paramount Games Studio now houses both Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media, continuing work on titles like Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and a Star Wars game. Collaborations with external studios like PlatinumGames are also in the pipeline, with more announcements expected soon.
A detailed interview with Prigg discussing the establishment of Paramount Games Studio and its upcoming projects will be released next Monday.
