Despite Hanwha Life Esports taking the opening game, Gen.G rallied with three consecutive wins, with Ruler earning the Finals MVP title.
The Grand Final was just one part of the thrilling climax to the season. Hanwha Life Esports played a pivotal role in the playoff bracket by defeating T1 twice: first with a remarkable comeback from 0:2 down, and then with a 3:1 victory in the lower-bracket final. T1’s journey to that stage included eliminating Dplus KIA, while Dplus had previously secured the final Worlds berth for the region by overcoming KT Rolster.
T1 continued to be the driving force behind the LCK’s viewership. The top three most-watched matches of the season all featured T1: the peak viewership of 1.56 million was reached during their first playoff series against HLE, followed by 1.53 million during the lower-bracket rematch, and just over 1.5 million during the series against Dplus KIA. The absence of a T1 vs Gen.G playoff encounter eliminated the match that had sparked the highest audience spike in the league in 2025. Nevertheless, LCK 2026 now stands as the eighth-most-watched event in league history by Peak Viewers and currently holds the third position among League of Legends tournaments held in 2026.
Year-over-year Hours Watched witnessed a decrease of around 7%, primarily due to a shorter broadcast schedule rather than reduced live interest. Airtime was reduced by approximately 16% after the post-MSI stage was shortened from three rounds to two. The Legend and Rise groups transitioned from a triple round-robin format in 2025 to a double round-robin format in 2026, resulting in 20 best-of-three series being cut from that part of the season.
Average Viewership numbers offer a clearer insight into the league’s year-over-year audience growth. The metric increased by just over 10%, indicating that the average broadcast of LCK 2026 attracted a larger audience despite the season generating fewer total viewing hours.
