The Canadian Game Awards have returned for their sixth year, showcasing the 2026 CGA’s, which honor games created in Canada and by Canadians. This year, Quebec takes the spotlight, with most of the Game of the Year nominees originating from the French Canadian province. Leading the nominations are Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Hell is Us, and South of Midnight.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows dominates with nine nominations across various categories, closely followed by South of Midnight with eight nominations (nine if including Compulsion Games for Studio of the Year) and Hell is Us with six (seven with Rogue Factor’s Studio of the Year nomination).

All three titles are in the running for Game of the Year, although one nominee, Wanderstop from indie developer Ivy Road, received its nomination amidst the unfortunate news of Ivy Road’s closure.

A jury of Canadian video game industry professionals and media members, including representatives from Wccftech, selects the nominees and winners. The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 21, 2026, at 5pm PT / 8pm ET at the John W.H. Bassett Theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, alongside the XP Game Summit Conference.

Below is the full list of nominees for this year’s Canadian Game Awards.
