GRID, an esports data platform, has recently introduced GRID Odds, a new esports betting service tailored for gambling operators.
The service is now live for CS2, Dota 2, Valorant, and League of Legends. According to the company, GRID Odds provides clients with precise data-driven pricing, a diverse array of markets ranging from match and map winners to player props, and the option for in-round betting.
“Our foundation at GRID is based on the belief that esports betting success hinges on having access to official data. GRID Odds is a natural extension of that philosophy,” stated Thomas Warburton, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of GRID.
Emphasis on In-Play Markets Dominating Esports
GRID holds official data rights with Riot Games, Ubisoft, KRAFTON, ESL FACEIT Group, and BLAST, enabling a broader range of in-play markets.
The company remarked, “Esports betting has emerged as the fastest-growing in-play sport currently. Live betting now constitutes approximately 70% of all stakes in the esports market.”
“Offering in-map player choices and in-round micro markets isn’t just a modeling decision; it’s about having the right access,” added Warburton. “Utilizing this access for our clients is what sets GRID Odds apart, allowing us to cater to more operators serious about esports.”
GRID’s Expansion into Betting and Prediction Markets
Leading GRID’s foray into esports betting is Warburton, who previously spent six years at Sky Betting and Gaming. The company has also brought on Evgeniy Bekker as VP of Trading, responsible for establishing its trading desk from scratch. Bekker previously served as Director of Trading at BETER.
Warburton expressed, “I’m pleased to have Evgeniy leading our trading operations. His experience will drive our business forward, supported by a team that understands the key to success lies in the product.”
As part of their expansion efforts, GRID has ventured into prediction markets, with a notable partnership with Polymarket in June boosting their volume to record levels in July. The platform recorded $790 million in esports volume last month, marking a 33% increase from June.
While prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi face restrictions in the UK, regulators are contemplating lifting these constraints.
