The development team behind “Dying Light,” Techland, has announced a significant new content update for “Dying Light: The Beast.” This update is so substantial that it will replace the standard version of the game with a new version titled “Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land Edition.”
Existing players of “Dying Light: The Beast” will receive this new content as a free update when it releases later this week on March 26, 2026. If you already own the game, you don’t need to take any action to enjoy the new features. For those who haven’t yet delved into the world of Techland’s latest zombie survival game, the Restored Land Edition will be available for purchase alongside other editions of the game after March 26.
As revealed by IGN, the Restored Land content is designed for hardcore fans of “Dying Light.” It introduces a challenging survival mode where resources are extremely scarce. Players won’t be able to replay in-world activities to collect resources a second time, and looted resources do not respawn. Defensive tactics are also less effective in this version of the campaign.
In addition to resource scarcity, zombies do not respawn in the Restored Land version of “Dying Light: The Beast.” Once you eliminate a zombie, it remains dead for the duration of your playthrough. With strategic resource management and combat skills, skilled players can clear Castor Woods of its zombie infestation.
The new content update also offers the option to increase the difficulty even further with a permadeath feature. If your character dies, your save file will be erased, requiring you to start over. There is also a new mode called “Roadkill Rallies,” which challenges players to run over as many zombies as possible within a time limit using a car.
Completing these car challenges unlocks a powerful armored vehicle for players to use in Castor Woods. Finishing the game in Restored Land mode will earn players in-game markers as recognition of their achievement. Additionally, the update includes “new finishers, new achievements, new quest encounters, and multiple gameplay and performance improvements.”
This update is the latest major enhancement from Techland for “Dying Light: The Beast.” In November 2025, the studio introduced ray-tracing to the PC version, a new game plus mode, and over 400 improvements.
