Envy has made a comeback in competitive CS2 by signing the former 3DMAX lineup, marking their return to the French Counter-Strike scene after nearly six years. The French team is now aiming for a spot at the PGL Singapore Major 2026.

The announcement of this move on 29 September brings Envy back to its roots in the French CS scene, where they achieved their greatest success. Envy’s previous French lineups, featuring players like Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire and Kenny ‘kennyS’ Schrub, secured the organization’s only Major title at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015, defeating NAVI 2-0 in the final.

Envy’s previous Counter-Strike team in 2020 featured an international roster with players like MICHU, Nifty, and Thomas. The organization hinted at its comeback on 23 September, shortly after the 3DMAX lineup’s victory at Logitech G Play Connect 2026.

A Strong Core Ready for Action

The new roster includes players like AWPer and in-game leader Bryan ‘Maka’ Canda, Lucas ‘Lucky’ Chastang, Kévin ‘misutaaa’ Rabier, Filip ‘Graviti’ Brankovic, and Jeremy ‘Kursy’ Gast. Maka, the team’s AWPer, was named MVP at Logitech G Play Connect, the final event under the 3DMAX banner.

Envy is set to debut at Stake Pulse Beat III, starting on 12 October. Currently ranked 21st in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), which determine Major invitations, Envy also has DraculaN Season 7 on their schedule before the 2 November invitation deadline. Their VRS position gives them a head start in a CS2 scene marked by significant roster changes, allowing them to avoid starting from scratch.

Reports suggest that the deal with Envy does not involve taking on 3DMAX’s financial troubles. While Envy acquired the lineup and its VRS points, they did not inherit the reported $2 million debt of 3DMAX, which includes unpaid salaries, prize money, and sticker revenue. However, these figures have not been independently verified.

Qualifying for Singapore Major

A qualification simulation by Mischief shows that Envy has a 38.8% chance of earning a spot at the Singapore Major, with a projected final ranking between 14th and 26th. While this is a model prediction and not a guarantee, Envy currently sits outside the qualification line at 21st, with two ranked events remaining to change their standing.

Envy’s return comes at a time when Counter-Strike organizations are facing challenges due to reduced sticker revenue and restrictions on promoting certain websites at official tournaments. The French lineup has a limited time to capitalize on their starting position and secure an invitation to the Major.
