Epic Games has officially announced significant changes to the in-game economy of Fortnite, including adjustments to the price of V-Bucks packs, Battle Pass rewards, and subscription benefits, set to take effect on March 19.
The decision to implement these changes stems from the rising costs associated with maintaining Fortnite, leading to a reevaluation of how the game’s premium currency is distributed throughout its ecosystem.
Reduction in V-Bucks Packs
As part of the new structure, players can expect to receive fewer V-Bucks for the same purchase price across various pack tiers.
For instance, the $8.99 pack will now offer 800 V-Bucks instead of the previous 1,000, while the $22.99 bundle will decrease from 2,800 to 2,400 V-Bucks. Similarly, the $36.99 option will be adjusted from 5,000 to 4,500 V-Bucks, and the $89.99 tier will see a reduction from 13,500 to 12,500 V-Bucks.
In addition, the cost of “exact amount” purchases will essentially double in price, with the price for 50 V-Bucks increasing from about $0.50 to $0.99, although regional pricing may vary.

Introduction of Epic Rewards
To offset these changes, Epic is rolling out a new initiative called Epic Rewards, which will offer 20% back in rewards for purchases made using the Epic Games Store payment system.
These rewards will be applicable to transactions in Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League on PC, mobile, and web platforms when utilizing Epic’s checkout system. The credits earned through Epic Rewards can later be used for future purchases within Epic games or the Epic Games Store.
For example, purchasing the $8.99 V-Bucks pack will result in $1.79 in Epic Rewards, while the $89.99 tier will grant $17.99 in credit.
Adjustments to Battle Pass and Mode Pass
Epic is also making changes to the cost and reward structure of various passes within Fortnite’s different game modes.
The standard Battle Pass will now be priced at 800 V-Bucks, down from the previous 1,000. However, the maximum amount of V-Bucks that players can earn from completing the pass will also decrease to 800, compared to the previous 1,500 available through the main pass and Bonus Rewards.
It was further confirmed that V-Bucks will no longer be included in Bonus Rewards, meaning that players can only earn the currency through the main progression track.
Additionally, several other passes associated with specific Fortnite experiences will see adjustments in prices:
- OG Pass: 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
- Music Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400)
- LEGO Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400)
The Battle Bundle, which includes the Battle Pass and 25 instant levels, will see a decrease in price from 2,800 to 2,600 V-Bucks.
Changes to Fortnite Crew

Epic has also announced changes to the Fortnite Crew subscription service, which offers a monthly cosmetic set along with V-Bucks.
Subscribers will now receive 800 V-Bucks per month instead of the previous 1,000, with Epic indicating that Crew members will receive region-specific emails detailing when these adjustments will come into effect.
Unchanged Status of Existing Gift Cards
Epic has assured that existing V-Bucks gift cards will continue to be redeemed at their face value, ensuring that players who have already purchased them will not be impacted by the alterations.
These pricing modifications arrive as Fortnite expands its offerings beyond the realm of battle royale, with various modes such as Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite OG becoming integral parts of the broader platform.
